Common Questions

Do I need to be in Maryland to work with you?

No. All sessions are via video call. Mentees are based across the US. If you are in the Bowie, Maryland or DMV area and prefer to meet in person for an initial session, that can be arranged.

What if I am not sure which option is right for me?

Book the free 15-minute intro call. We will talk through your situation and figure out what makes sense. There is no pressure to commit to anything during that call.

Can I focus entirely on CISSP prep?

Yes. CISSP prep is one of the most common reasons people book sessions. Nigel has taught CISSP classes and brings that background to one-on-one sessions , covering domain strategy, study sequencing, resources, and the management mindset the exam demands. Sessions cover what to focus on based on your background, how to approach practice questions, and what to expect on exam day.

I have zero security experience. Is this still useful?

Yes, especially for career changers. A lot of what makes people successful in security is not purely technical. It is how you frame your existing skills, which certifications make sense as entry points, and how to talk to hiring managers. That is exactly what single sessions and the 4-session package are built for.

How is this different from a study group or online course?

It is built around your specific situation, not a generic curriculum. A study group covers the same material for everyone. This covers what you need, where you are weak, and how to move forward given your background and goals. You also get direct access to someone who has done the work professionally, not just studied it.
